There are currently 5 competitions on the calendar for the Tesoro Winter Dance Guard team that is currently comprised of 15 members. All parents, families, and students are welcome to attend and support them!
The Winter Dance Guard team puts in a tremendous amount of time to craft their winning show.
Practice Schedule - Beginning mid-Nov.
Tuesdays/Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Practices continue thru to the final championship competition in mid April.
This ensemble explores a wide variety of dance styles and body movement from jazz and modern to hip-hop and ballet. Along with dance, the dance guard learns techniques and performance expression with equipment, including props, flags, rifles and sabers.
This outstanding performing group is also an intricate part of the fall season Tesoro Entertainment Units Marching Band program.
Winter Guard competes regionally in a highly regarded circuit:
Tesoro HS competes in the WGASC HS A division.
In the fall, the Tesoro HS Dance Guard participates with the Tesoro Entertainment Units Marching Band in football games and competitive performances around Southern California.
In the winter, the color guard performs visual shows set to music in an indoor setting and travels as a group to compete with other dance/color guards.
Winter Dance Guard is an extra-curricular activity.
Winter Guard is an ensemble that begins practices in mid-November and runs through mid-April. This ensemble performs in gymnasiums to a soundtrack while using the same equipment used in Marching Band/Dance Guard.
The objective of this group is to strive for excellence, to gain dance and guard skills and to promote community among its members through competition.
The best part of the dance guard, however, is not necessarily the dance, equipment, props, championships or trips. Participation in the dance guard promotes the development of physical fitness, self-confidence, discipline, and other life skills. Dance guard members become a family for one another throughout their high school experience.
