Tesoro High School’s instrumental music department includes three string ensembles, chamber orchestra, symphony orchestra, musical pit orchestra, concert band, wind ensemble, two jazz ensembles, marching band, drumline, advanced placement music theory, guitar, commercial music, and many small quartets and ensembles.
There are more than 500 students enrolled in the music department. The instrumental ensembles have consistently earned superior ratings at district festivals and have performed throughout California, Chicago, New York, Florida, England, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The Capistrano Unified School District has been recognized as one of the top 100 school districts for music in the United States and most recently Tesoro was recognized as one of the top 5 nationwide 2015 GRAMMY Signature School recipients for its musical excellence.
Tesoro is proud of its musical achievements and has also established a reputation for top scholarship and leadership within the Southern California area. The Tesoro Instrumental Music program has alumni at colleges and universities across the nation including prestigious schools such as Harvard, Stanford, USC, MIT, UCLA, Berkeley and Northwestern.
The music program directors and staff are dedicated to the development of all facets of a student’s potential, using music as the common element.
